An initiative by the Co-ordination Centre for Integrated Coastal Zone Management

In 1996 the Flemish Government took the initiative and approached environmental planning in a coordinated manner.
A first step was the development of the Flanders Spatial Structure Plan (RSV), which determines the general lines of policy which local government (provinces and municipalities) must adhere to when planning and organizing land use.
