The port of Zeebrugge is a deep-water port (up to 52 feet deep) with equipment that meets all requirements of present-day shipping and transshipment techniques.
This multifunctional port is specialized in the treatment of ro-ro, containers, general cargo, liquid bulk and solid bulk. Zeebrugge has developed from a transit port into a European distribution center.
Total trade amounts to about 30 million tons per year. Over 350 companies are active in the port area of Brugge-Zeebrugge. Together, they realize an annual average added value of 750 million EUR and employ almost 11,000 persons. The number of indirect jobs is estimated at 30,000 (source: MBZ, GOM - West-Vlaanderen).
