An initiative by the Co-ordination Centre for Integrated Coastal Zone Management

Activities which are less restricted to the Belgian continental shelf but nevertheless equally important, are fishing and recreation.
Within the 12 mile zone the Belgian fishery has priority rights. In the area extending further than 3 miles off the coast, Dutch and French fishing vessels are granted certain facilities.
The marinas along the coast offer over 3,000 berths and form the operating base for recreational sailing at sea.
